Ramside Hall Hotel & Luxury Spa, set in the heart of County Durham, stands as one of the North East’s premier destinations for leisure, hospitality, and entertainment. Its commitment to sustainability has led to a transformative partnership with SCJ Renewables, targeting significant carbon reduction and long-term energy savings through solar power.

As part of a multi-phase project started in 2024, SCJ Renewables designed and installed advanced solar PV systems throughout the Ramside Hall estate. The initial stage saw 326 panels installed across the spa, main reception, and hotel accommodation, integrated seamlessly into the hotel’s main electricity supply.

Building on this success, the most recent phase involved installing a further 202kWp solar PV system comprising 364 high-performance solar panels on ‘The Pin’ – Ramside Hall’s new state-of-the-art entertainment centre and 43-bay driving range.

Together, the systems are estimated to:

. Generate 324,700 kWh of clean electricity annually.

. Estimated annual carbon savings of 160 tonnes of CO₂

. Total expected savings of £81,000 per annum

. Estimated payback period: 4.5 years

The project’s delivery was carefully phased to minimise disruption to Ramside Hall’s operations, ensuring guests continued to enjoy the highest standard of service throughout.

The Ramside Hall solar project showcases how forward-thinking hospitality providers can blend environmental responsibility with operational savings, setting a new benchmark for sustainable leisure destinations in the North East.
